Higonokami was created in 1896, in Japan, by a blacksmith named Tejii Murakami.
At the beginning of the 20º century, it is as popular in Japan as Opinel in France. But in 1961, following the
assassination of the chief of the socialist party with a sabre (Already prohibited) all the pocket knifes were
prohibited in Japan. Higonokami survived thanks to the collectors and today, it is manufactured by Motosuke
Nagao in the town of Miki who saw his origin.
